As arts and cultural events continue to be cancelled or postponed due to the severe impact of coronavirus (COVID-19), we recognize the adversity this is having on your creative practice and your income.

Please know that the Arts Council is working rapidly to respond to and address the needs of the artists we serve. As of March 17, we will be temporarily modifying our Emergency Fund for Artists (EFFA) application guidelines to address the current needs of artists in the Greater Pittsburgh area.

The Emergency Fund for Artists will now provide up to $500 in assistance to artists experiencing loss of income due to the coronavirus outbreak.


Artists living in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington, Lawrence, Indiana, Greene, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties are eligible. The fund will be open, but not limited to, the following uses:

  • Financial losses due to cancelled events, including performances in all performing arts, disciplines, readings, and speaking opportunities
  • Offsetting loss of income for teaching artists who could not teach during this time because of cancelled classes and school closures


Submit your aplication online or if you are unable to do so online, download an application, print and complete the application, sending a photo of the application to Proof of contract is required in your application. We realize agreements come in all forms, such as contracts, MOUs, emails, cancellation texts, rental agreements, etc. Please feel free to list contacts who would be responsible for paying you.
